Welcome to the Motel Ely a family owned and operated motel located in Ely, MN. We are a quaint environmentally conscious motel with impeccably clean and comfortable rooms. Ely is located in the heart of the Superior National Forest, and is a main departure point for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA).

We are AAA rated, and whether you're here on business or here for pleasure, on your own or in a group, you'll find we provide the highest level of service around.

Motel Ely has always adhered to strict cleaning standards. Since this break out we've tweaked some of our practices to ensure the safety of our guests and employees. One of our greatest pleasures is meeting our guests and hearing their stories on what brings them to Ely. Ely has a variety of things to do while staying at Motel Ely. Check out our list of winter activities around Ely, MN including skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and more. The International Wolf Center will help you learn about the natural history of wolves by observing the resident wolf pack and touring the "Wolves and Humans" exhibit, while the North American Bear Center promotes and provides educational facilities, exhibits, multi-media presentations, and when prudent, live animals, particularly those needing clinical rehabilitation.

Motel Ely is snowmobile- and ATV-friendly, offering off-street truck and trailer parking in our oveflow parking lot next to the Holiday across the street from the motel.

We've supplemented our existing environmental practices with new initiatives to further reduce waste and improve resource efficiency. Some of our new initiatives include the installation of water-saving showerheads, installation dispensers for amenities to eliminate waste, extensive recycling, and a towel reuse option for motel guests. We also use high efficiency light bulbs as well as "green" cleaning supplies.
